Tasteful Touches - Welcome to the World

Updated: Dec 9, 2020

Hi everyone, I'm finally venturing into the world of blogging! I wanted to share with you all one of my favourite card designs which I created recently.

One of my family friends had a beautiful baby girl and I wanted to send them gifts along with a lovely card to mark the occasion. Luckily I had just purchased the Tasteful Touches stamp set from Stampin Up and I quite liked the flower stamp that came with it.

I decided to try out a technique I had never done before whereby I covered the top and bottom of the white card with a scrap pieces that had torn edges. Next I used the sponge daubers and calypso coral ink to spread between the 2 scrap pieces ensuring an even mixture across.

After that (whilst keeping the scrap pieces on) I stamped the leafy stems in the background using calypso coral. On a separate bit of paper I stamped and fussy cut out the flower. I stamped with black ink and embossed it with clear embossing powder before colouring it in with a water painter (because I did not have the Stampin Blend pens at the time).

I stamped and embossed the sentiment (Welcome to the World from the animal outing stamp set which unfortunately has now been retired) onto vellum paper. I then used the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch on one edge of the velum strip and tucked the flat edge using glue dots under the flower.

Finally I stuck the white piece of paper on pink card before embellishing it with a few gems from the Elegent faceted gems pack which co-ordinates with the Peony Garden Suite.

It was surprisingly straightforward to make and enjoyable. The happy parents were delighted with it (thankfully!!!).

If you are interested in having a go at making this yourself (maybe a fun activity for half term?) then here is a list of all the equipment that I used:
